John Ulzheimer joins us in the basement this week to discuss how your friends and time on social media can impact your credit score.
The Makin’ Sense Babe and Sandy Smith from Yes, I Am Cheap join Len Penzo in a rousing discussion about some of the dumbest financial mistakes they’ve made. Among others, they’ve bought the wrong house (or were pressured to buy at the wrong time), bought a business with a severance package, refused to sell a potential hit song, and purchased some horrible stocks without research.

I was just reading your blurb on buying a house at the wrong time. If it’s the wrong time to buy, does that mean it’s the right time to sell? And if you sell at the right time, is that a wrong time to buy?
AvgJoeMoney
You’re makin’ my head hurt, dude! The quick answer is “yes.” If you’re looking at the top or bottom of a market, then one person is going to win big, making the other a big, fat loser.

When you don’t post the podcast in the post I don’t get to download and listen on my phone 🙁
AvgJoeMoney
Ugh!!!!! Fixed.

Rush looks so good. Have you seen Gravity? Loved it! Looking forward to seeing captain phillips too!
AvgJoeMoney
I’m going to see Gravity this afternoon, actually. OG said that he actually liked Prisoners better than Rush, though Rush was great. The surprise for me was how much Cheryl liked Rush even though she doesn’t like racing.

I loved the podcast this week, especially hearing about mistakes that even some of our esteemed bloggers have made. Not that I delight in others misery, but it’s nice to know that smart & successful people can make big blunders & bounce back from them.
AvgJoeMoney
Thanks! We worked really hard on this episode.

Normally I delete podcasts I listen to (to save space on my iPod) but I may have to keep this one just to hear Len’s song in its entirety over and over again.
BTW: I’m thinking the agent wanted to buy it for a Chrissy Hynde/Pretenders B-side. What do you think?
AvgJoeMoney
It DOES sound like a Pretenders track….nice call!
By the way, if you want a copy of the song let me know (just email me): Len is happy to distribute mp3s of it (called “Vancouver”) to anyone who wants one.
