Carefully curated after going through the archive, we think you’re going to love some of our most motivational interviews.
Erin Skye Kelly knows two things: 1) debt – she was in HUGE debt trouble; and 2) motivation. As part of the Tony Robbins team, and someone who’s led her own team as well, she knows how to get people to MOVE! Between her ability to laugh, tell real, gut-wrenching stories about messing up, and to teach us like we’re 5 years old, I found this to be one of THE most fun interviews I’ve ever done, and it’s one of the most lauded by the Stacker community as well. – joe
Many times I’ve thought, “I can’t do this” or “They had a head start.” In truth, while some may have had a leg up to begin, 99.9% of us still have to perform to reach our peak. Candy Valentino lived that life. Born into a family with no money and very slim prospects, she became a multi-millionaire before age 30. She shares how to bootstrap your way to success. Right after this interview, I immediately went and tweaked some of my own systems (which I think are pretty good right now!). – joe
Oscar Munoz took over a struggling United Airlines at a time when EVERYTHING looked horrible. The stock price was in the toilet. Worker morale was at all-time lows. Investor outrage was real, and significantly hurting operations. Munoz described to us exactly what he did to turn around the airline at the same time that he had a major health crisis. It’s a story about how to effectively lead (with a-ha moments being sometimes exactly what you would never expect) and the importance of listening to your body. – joe
Michael Santos will be the first one to tell you how dumb his plan was. It all started with the wrong inspiration (seriously….who gets inspired to become a drug dealer by watching Scarface???). He not only experienced reform while in prison, he’s now actively working to reform the system. He tells his story of first getting into trouble, and then how he worked his way out from under a place where most never recover. You can’t help but root for the guy, and then see your own problems as much smaller than they were before you watched. – joe
Buffie Purselle is both a Bravo TV star and a financial guru… but before all of that, she was a young entrepreneur spending money like water. She’d regularly fly to London to get her hair done at the same place Beyoncé frequented. When the money began drying up, she realized she needed to get real about her money and her life…and BAM! did things change. Buffie shows how you can change instantly if you make a decision (instead of waffling about it). She also said one of the phrases we now use over and over on SB, “The most dangerous phrase a broke person can say is, I deserve it.“ – joe
